Leafcutter started in early 2017 when our youngest daughter, Mallory, began making premium soy candles and selling them outside of local restaurants. Around that same time our son, Zak, who was 3 years old was diagnosed with Autism and my husband, Jamie, left his job in retail to be a stay-at-home dad. Soon after he joined her, attending markets and adding freshies to the lineup. In August 2017, Hurrican Harvey hit our small town of Rockport, Texas, the local markets that we depended on to reach our customers were gone. We spent the later part of 2017 and most of 2018 traveling all over Texas (once to Oklahoma!) attending markets and fairs, growing the Leafcutter brand. Also at the end of 2017, I left my decades long restaurant career and became a candle maker full time. We opened our kiosk at La Palmera Mall in Corpus Christi in 2018 and our storefront in Rockport in 2019. Along the way our other daughters, Taylor & Allyn, helped with social media, artwork, and production. You may have met them at a market here or there.

Through the seasons of life we have adjusted our model for what works for our family. Like many of you, 2020 brought some hard losses and Jamie & I made the decision to move back to Central Texas to be closer to our parents. All of the girls have their own families and careers away from Leafcutter now.  We became Nonny & Poppy and in the summer of 2024, we relocated to Gordon, Texas. About halfway between Fort Worth and Abilene. Jamie has returned to the workforce, and I am currently not doing shows, and Zak will be 14 this summer. That is the current version of Leafcutter! But we remain committed to high-quality ingredients and highly scented products.

Thank you for being part of our lives and supporting our family through this almost 10-year journey! Senisa
